Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
