Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while officials has requested "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A minor lost their life and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow periods of air raids in the region, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
